Golf Bags: What To Choose?

A golf bag is essential to carry all of your golf equipment. You can put your clubs and balls in there but also your markers, tees, umbrella, towels etc. It can help you feel a lot more comfortable when playing, if you have the right sort of bag.

You will need to think about how many things and the type of things you want to put in the bag, when you are choosing but also whether you will want to carry it. If you are using a golf cart, then carrying will not be difficult and if you have a caddie, then maybe check with them. However, it could be better to have a bag with wheels if you are going to be moving it everywhere with you.

There are three different types of bag, the cart bag, the travel or carry bag and the staff or tour bag. The staff or tour bags tend to be the most popular. These have storage for up to 14 clubs and room for other things as well, most professionals use these and their caddies will carry them for them. Most good quality bags are made of leather and are expensive. A travel or carry bag is smaller and lighter and so if you are carrying it yourself, it is a good option. They may vary in size and shape and only have room for a few items. They tend to have a junior range as well. Most are made from plastic or nylon because it is light and may have stand or multiple straps. The cart golf bags are smaller than the tour bags but bulkier and are designed for use by people who have golf carts. They tend to be made using light material and have lots of pockets.

So when choosing your bag you need to consider which will suit you best. If you have a caddie then you may not worry about the weight and size, although you do not want them to be uncomfortable. A golf cart, on the other hand, will not mind how heavy your bag is! If you are going to carry the bag yourself and walk the course then a lighter bag, such as a carry bag with stand could be best. The cost will also be a factor in your decision. Prices do range a lot and it may be best to get one that is a little more expensive but has lots of features. It is worth spending time hunting around for this. Think about how many pockets you might need with regards to how many things you carry with you and this will influence the style of the bag that you choose.
